A Participatory Planning Process was employed to produce a watershed assessment that balanced the needs of the community and the environment. Water quality on this nationally recognized trout stream is under increased threats from growth and development, mining, agricultural and forestry practices. To lay the ground work for the implementation of the assessment’s recommendations, numerous educational outreach activities were used to built public understanding, support and partnerships for watershed protection. Educational outreach components included: Stakeholder Roundtable Discussions, Educational Workshops, a Stream Field Day and a summary document of the assessment’s findings.
